#Participant of the 3DModels.org One Car Challenge

To mój pierwszy udział w One Car Challenge i chcę od razu postawić poprzeczkę wysoko.

Jestem vehicle artistem 3D, pracowałem wcześniej m.in. przy Japanese Drift Master — więc samochody, tuning i klimat toru to moja działka.

Mój plan na to Hino Contessa 900 Sprint (1961) to hardcore drift build w klimacie japońskiego time attack / touge drift. Chcę zrobić szeroki body kit, agresywny splitter, nitowane flary, racing wing albo ducktail, typowe felgi JDM, obniżone zawieszenie i torowy vibe — a całość pokazać w akcji na torze z dymem, śladami gumy i dynamicznym oświetleniem.

Refka, która mnie mocno inspiruje, to stuningowany Datsun, który wrzucam poniżej — stawiam na podobny vibe: retro sylwetka + agresywne aero + racing livery.

Plan na najbliższe tygodnie:
Tydzień 1: Blokowanie bryły, rozbiórka modelu bazowego, wstępny body kit
Tydzień 2: Detale aero — spoiler, splittery, flary, roll cage
Tydzień 3: Felgi, wnętrze, tekstury, test lightingu
Tydzień 4: Scena toru, HDRi, ślady gumy, finalny render i postprodukcja

Hey everyone!

This is my first time taking part in the One Car Challenge, and I want to push myself as far as possible right from the start.

I’m a 3D vehicle artist, and I’ve worked on projects like Japanese Drift Master — so cars, tuning, and racetrack scenes are what I live for.

My plan for this Hino Contessa 900 Sprint (1961) is to turn it into a hardcore drift build inspired by Japanese time attack and touge drift culture. I want to add a wide body kit, aggressive front splitter, riveted fender flares, a racing wing or ducktail, classic JDM wheels, lowered stance and a full-on racetrack vibe — all shown in action on the track with tire smoke, skid marks and dramatic lighting.

One big inspiration for me is this tuned Datsun I’m sharing below — I want a similar feel: retro silhouette mixed with aggressive aero and racing livery.

My plan for the next weeks:
Week 1: Base model check, blocking out the shape, starting the body kit
Week 2: Aero details — spoiler, splitters, flares, roll cage
Week 3: Wheels, interior, texturing, lighting tests
Week 4: Racetrack environment, HDRi, tire marks, final render & post-production

Zamieszczam kolejne refki - tym razem celuję w mocno torowy klimat z agresywnym splitterem, pełnym body kitem, nitowanymi flarami i technicznym wykończeniem (mocowania, ducting, widoczny intercooler). Bazuję m.in. na Datsunie 510 z Optima Street Car - bardzo konkretny setup z widocznymi detalami.

Obecnie analizuję siatkę bazowego modelu Hino:
Niektóre elementy są za gęsto rozdzielone (np. dolna część zderzaka),
Dach, drzwi i górne panele wyglądają całkiem dobrze – nadają się jako base mesh,
Planuję robić retopo zderzaka, progów i miejsc pod flary, żeby zachować czystość przy późniejszym subdivisionie.

W kolejnych dniach wrzucę screeny z pierwszych modyfikacji i może testy pod flary.
Jak ktoś ma tipy, jak najlepiej podejść do modułowego body kitu w takim klasycznym coupe - chętnie posłucham!

Posting some new references - this time I’m going full track-style with an aggressive front splitter, full body kit, riveted fender flares and a technical finish (mounting points, ducting, exposed intercooler). The build is heavily inspired by the Datsun 510 from the Optima Street Car Challenge - a really solid setup with great detail visibility.

Right now, I’m analyzing the mesh of the base Hino model:
Some areas are overly dense (especially the lower front bumper),
Roof, doors and upper panels look clean and usable as base mesh,
I’m planning to retopologize the bumper, side skirts and flare zones to maintain clean geometry when applying subdivision later.

In the next few days I’ll share screenshots from the early modifications — and possibly some test work on the widebody flares.
If anyone has tips on how to approach modular body kits for classic coupes like this - I’d love to hear your thoughts!
